“L” Graduate Program
After special consideration, the USDF L Program Standing Committee has approved our 2007 L Program Part II. The D2 Session will be conducted by Joan Humphrey on June 30 and July __, 2007 at the Christiane Noelting Dressage Center in Vacaville. The Exam will be held at Rancho Murieta on August 11 and 12, 2007 (the Northern California Junior Championship). The examiners will be Joan Humphrey and Debbie Reihl Rodriguez. Foothills Chapter is grateful to Christiane Noelting and Mary Schrader for allowing us to conduct the L program at their shows, and to Joan Humphrey and Kim Sodt of USDF for their help in getting this program approved.
We have also applied for L Program Continuing Education Program: "Upgrade Your Judging Eye I" - Marilyn Heath will combine classroom lecture with practice judging of movements and full tests using the new "On the Levels DVD". There will be discussion, question and answer period, and oral judging. The Continuing Education program is for L candidates and graduates, as well as current judges. If space is available, auditors will be welcomed. The program will be held on January 27, 2007. Location, time, and an application will be announced in December 2006. This program will be accredited by USDF for one education credit.
Session D-2 will be conducted similar to Session D-1 but with a bit more emphasis on a testing situation. This is done to prepare candidates for the final testing. The same self-evaluation form will be used as in D-1. Again, the candidates will receive a copy from the USDF Office.
Participants must complete all sessions and complete scribing and sitting hours to be eligible to take the Final exam.
The Final Exam takes place at a recognized competition, and lasts 1 ˝ to 2 days. There will be two examiners. The examination will include a written test, and a practical judging test with some oral questioning. Candidates will be required to judge orally. The written exam is a closed book exam which includes true/false and multiple choice questions. Foothills will provide all necessary test sheets. Candidates should bring:
Lunch will be available for purchase at both locations. You are responsible for providing your scribe, pens, and clipboards. If you have difficulty finding a scribe, please let us know and we will ask our Chapter members. Please do not forget to bring your reference material and test packages, as it will be difficult to participate to the fullest extent without it, and we will not have additional replacement packages.
We thank you in advance for your timely attention to all the details that we have requested above. Though most of all, we thank you for your desire and interest to participate in this wonderful educational opportunity. Your commitment to contribute to the pursuit of dressage in the U.S. is awesome and admirable. We want to do all we can to make your participation in our program a success, and we wish you the best of luck in becoming an L graduate. If you have questions or concerns, please e-mail or call me.
