About Renee Johnson...

Renee has ridden, trained and shown several FEI horses since 1985.  Winning numerous USDF, CDS and USEF National and Regional Championships with her horses, Kamuela, Kai, INXS, Milky Way, which include #1 Nationally HOY at 4th Level, 3rd Level, 2nd Level, 2nd Level freestyle as well as the CDS Futurity Championship with INXS, and CDS Futurity Reserve Championship ridding Kamuela.  Renee has earned her Bronze and Silver Medals on horses she has trained herself - from their very first backing through the FEI levels.  "I start my own babies - I take full responsibility - for better or worse.  Fortunately, the past 20+ years has been for the better!"

For the past 7 years she has been under the guidance of International Master Dressage Trainer, Conrad Schumacher.  Riding her home-bred Dutch mare, Ulla (Kamuela x Glen Annie) and her gelding, Kai (by Farmer) during 2008, Renee earned top KWPN awards (5th and 2nd, Nationally) for their performances at Training and PSG, respectively as well as competing her Dutch stallion, Kamuela, at Intermediare II last year with an average of nearly 70%.

Along with the privilege of Mr. Schumacher's coaching, competing both Kai and Kamuela in the 2001-2004 CDI's at Del Mar, Rancho Murieta and Pebble Beach have been exciting highlights in her riding career but what Renee enjoys most are the rewards of bringing along the horses through the levels.  To do that well you have to establish a good foundation, "it's the basics that are the most important - and the most difficult".  That is what she works on in the daily training, every day, whether it's with the just started young horse, a horse learning the middle levels, or her FEI horses.  "Some riders find the basics boring - I hope I can help you find them fascinating - or at least worthwhile!"
